Jubilation in Igboland as work begins on 2nd Niger bridge

This issue of constructing the 2nd Niger bridge has been since the former President of Nigeria Goodluck Ebere Jonathan has made the foundation ceremony.
This brought excitement to the south east region with regard to the start of work on 2nd Niger bridge which would connect the south east and south south geopolitical zone.

Job seekers took it as an opportunity to join the work force.
The minister of labour, Senator Chris Ngige said on Saturday 31st January that the Federal government council had approved N14 billion to enable Julius Berger commence the work

He added that N16 billion was accommodated in the 2017 budget for additional payment for the bridge construction. To ease the pressure of heavy duty vehicles transporting goods Ngige said the bridge was redesigned to have a railway connecting from Asaba in Delta State and Onitsha in Anambra State.

It was also noted that the previous administration played politics with this but this present administration under President Buhari has decided to ensure its realisation.
